Yesterday SM & I took my other half out to lunch to celebrate a big b’day. Decided to spoil him rotten and take him to this trendy burger joint that after all the publicity it’s received we have been looking forward to trying for quite some time! Upon entering I was quite shocked; the décor has taken shabby chic to new heights.. in fact the ultimate in shabbiness. Then I noticed quite a few other diners were our age group (old!) so took that as a good sign… they were there for the food and not the peeling wallpaper!
We found out later that the walls have been left exactly as they found them when they stripped off the coverings that the previous shop had used. When you get used to it it’s fun and in keeping with the whole ethos of the restaurant, very relaxed and laid back with a feel good atmosphere (helped by great background music). Now open noon – 10pm 7 days a week, no booking, just turn up and “chow down”. The staff are a delight, so smiley (in a genuine manner) and full of enthusiasm.
Two of us chose the “Prince Charles is Overrated” burger at £6.50, Dry aged steak patty, smoked pancetta, cheese, shredded iceberg & (the bound to become famous) ‘dirty spread’ burger sauce. SM had the Winner Winner burger , also £6.50, buttermilk fried chicken breast, charred baby gem lettuce, 7 Bone Caesar dressing. As we were being piggy we also ordered 3 seasoned fries at £2.50 each, could easily have had 2 between us, massive portions! LOVED the burgers, meat was delicious and the chicken very succulent. We liked the sweeter than usual burger buns. All served in red plastic baskets… very American Diner. Our drinks, 2 beers, a cider and we finished with coffees. Do check out their website to see the menus and more.
Matt and Rich the 2 owners have a passion for American comfort food and great service, they are working on their vision to bring 7Bone to the world! It was busy so lots of people are listening to them, so are we; we enjoyed it very much and will be back!
