The Master Builder’s comes under the Hillbrooke Hotels umbrella and is situated on the picturesque Beaulieu River. Originally built in 1729 it changed to a hotel in 1926 when it was re-named. Visit their web-site for a more detailed account of it’s history.
The Walking group I belong to ventured out for lunch and noting that the weather forecast predicted a change for the better in the afternoon we decided to eat first and then walk it off!
We were 9 and chose from the Bar Menu – 12noon – 2.30 Mon to Fri and 3pm on Sat and Sun. Our choices: New Forest game casserole with rustic bread and roasted vegetables £13.95, New Forest honey-roasted ham, 2 fried eggs and fries, very yummy, home made Pie of the Day (steak & ale) with seasonable vegetables and mashed potato £12.95 and finally the cheese & biscuits – 5 Local Cheeses with chutney and grapes £9.00…. only a small amount of each cheese was the comment! Everyone else was complimentary about the flavours and portion sizes.
We didn’t have pudding but they are £5.95 each or a selection of New Forest Ice Cream & sorbets, 3 scoops for £4.25. The full menus are on their website.
The outside eating area is large with wonderful views across the river so a lovely al fresco destination in the Summer. We walked along the river ending in Beaulieu Village about 2 miles in glorious sunshine!
