You would not expect Wetherspoons, where you know that the food is cheap and hopefully cheerful, to have such a prestigiously named pub! We were 4 on “wing it” Wednesday…. on the menu a selection of different chicken dishes all £6.75, this includes a drink and they are served until 11pm.

My choice, the Southern-fried Chicken strips with honey glaze, made with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, served with coleslaw and chips or a side salad and dressing or rice, a Peri-Peri roast half chicken and sauce with salad was another choice.  The other two went off the chicken menu and had steak and kidney pudding and vegetables, including a drink, £7.55 for the two! See the web-site for the full menu.

The drink choices with these meals are a pint of beer/larger, spirits, 175ml glass of wine, soft drinks or hot drinks, coffee, teas etc. The menu gives you the amount of calories and a leaflet regarding allergen information is also available! They have an amazing variety of dietary requirements in fact the most comprehensive I have ever seen on a menu. Have a look HERE.

Fantastic value and very acceptable pub grub.

  1. We visited The Green Hotel in Bournmouth for evening meal recently. Exceptional food, reasonably priced, very good recommendation from lwl. Service very good. Will definitely visit again.
