We last reviewed this Restaurant in March 2009 and my new review is going to be almost identical!
We were the same five and again celebrating a birthday. We enjoyed the set menu and FIVE years on it’s almost the same price! Two courses in 2009 £11.35 in 2014 £11.95. Three course in 2009 £13.80 in 2014 £14.45. How do they do it? A complimentary 175ml glass of wine or soft drink is also still part of the set menu. Congratulations to Brasserie Blanc for more or less inventing 2/3 course menus to include wine… thank you from all Ladies who Lunch and for keeping up such a high standard!
Starters – Celery soup, parsley & hazelnut dressing, Summer vegetable & herb salad, poached free range egg, Chickpea, cherry tomato & bell pepper salad, smoked aubergine
Mains – Smoked haddock, leek & cheese fish cake, with summer vegetables, Braised lemon & date stuffed lamb heart and parslied carrots, Jimmy Butler’s free range, pan-fried pork sirloin, runner beans & new potatoes, Summer vegetable risotto, tomato & basil essence.
Puddings- Strawberry fool, Home-made profiteroles, Cointreau crème patissiere, hot chocolate sauce, Creme caramel, cat’s tongue biscuit.
We thoroughly enjoyed all of the above, the only main we didn’t have was the pork and we didnt have the crème caramel. Well presented and excellent service. The scoring for Variety of Menu would have been 4/5 for the full menu.
