Our Walking Group descended on this establishment at 10.30 am leaving our cars and looking forward to a great 4 mile walk in the area. At noon we arrived back for our luncheon suitably worn out!
Opening times are 11 – 3 and 6 – 11. Saturday and Sunday’s all day. Booking in the Summer is a must.
From a main menu, special menu and burger board menu, located at the bar, we chose the following…
Sweet potato, spinach, mushroom and butternut squash lasagne served with salad and garlic bread, £7.95 or £10.95. Good portion size; I had the small one which was adequate but the large one was double the size! Very tasty.
Three beef burgers, again good size with salad and big chips! Slightly overcooked for two of the walkers but good flavour, from £10.95 depending on your choice of meat.
A warm baguette served with chips and salad garnish, £7.95 There are 5 fillings, a sausage with red onion relish was the chosen one and very good it was too.
Home made beef lasagne served with dressed leaves and garlic bread £7.95 or £9.95. Good flavour.
Breaded scampi with tartare sauce dip, chips and peas £10.95, good size scampi.
Last choice was butcher’s faggots in red wine, roasted vegetable and thyme gravy served with mash and crispy bacon £10.95, very much enjoyed and very filling.
No room for puddings just coffees. It was all served by two very nice young men! We were lucky because we were a party of 9 they very kindly took our order at the table, normally one goes to the bar to place the order.
High Corner Inn has been in existence for a long time and having now visited can see why. Although its in a fairly remote location it is obviously well known by walkers, dog owners and Forest people. It’s in good decorative order and overnight accommodation is available. Check their web-site for the menu and more details. They have a large car park and an outside seating area, good for sunny days.
